Took the day off for no particular reason.

Woke up early as usual and decided to hit the jetty.

Rigged up and off I went.

Arrived at 5am and made the walk past the usual bums and weirdos.

Got to the end of the jetty while it was still pitch dark out.

Started throwing the 1oz Kastmaster in silver/blue custom painted with 3 large black dots.

Had the wind on my back so I was casting this thing a mile in a half and letting it hit bottom prior to retrieving.

Lot of fan casts yielded nothing.

No big deal, I came for the bass anyway.

I clipped on a 5" big hammer and smeared on pro cure's calico c*cktail.

Began throwing parallel to the rocks and working a variety of depths and retrieves.

Ended up with 2 sand bass and 2 spotties. I missed one other one on the hook set. I didn't bother taking a pic of the 4th.

All about 3/4lb, nothing of size like the 18" 3lb spottie I caught there last year but still had fun. It was a beautiful morning on the water.

Every fish came on a super slow steady retrieve, I mean I was barely crawling this thing deep across the rocks. Lost a couple rigs because of this but it was necessary to get bit.

All came on the creeping death pattern with a red lead head. One of my favorite, good for both day and night.

Fished for a total of 2hrs and went home.

All fish were released quickly with no damage.

Nice man. I need to dust off my bait caster and actually get out. Jealous!

Latimeria

Excellent report Eric. Any fish from shore these days is a good fish as they've been hard to come by.
You can't catch them from your computer chair.
