LONGCAST JOE

Hit the beach for a rare mid-day sesh. Left the long rods in my truck & decided to wade some suds with some structure, fan casting a swim bait. Knew I missed a few bumps when the big hammer would come back "pants pulled down" off the jig head. Salad was heavy on the inside trough so had to throw outside of it and I'd get 10-15 yards of clean retreive before some eel grass choked it up. That's the nice thing about fishing braid on the light rod, I can feel when I bump and stick on even one strand of eel grass. Finally got this decent 19" to stick, fun tussle in the suds before I got him up on the sand.

Got enough sun for a while...Back to grinner hunting this upcoming week  ;)

Nice calico Joe!

You are right.  It's been awfully quiet the past few weeks while the surf has been up.  Time to start seeing some of the guys catch grinners!
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

X2!!

Fancy reel!

Nah,The VS series is fancy, this is just the VR-125...I needed a reel that could take a dunkin and keep on tickin. When I light rod there's a slim chance I'm going to keep a reel dry and out of the sand. I got tired of non-sealed reels worm drives giving out on me so quickly. If this lasts me close to 5 years it'll turn out to have been a good investment.  ;)

Paired with a Phenix to boot  ;D

Haha, no Verne, I'm still deciding what I'm going to pair it with...Actually that one is a 7'6" off brand I ran and picked up in an emergency for $25 at the closest place that sold rods, after my 9'6" Tica's tip section snapped in half as I was rigging it at the start of a sesh. Yah, a $500 reel paired with a $25 rod... :-[ :D
