There's black sea bass in that area as well.

I might stop by to say what's up for a bit Saturday.

Really wanted to hit this spot in Dana point again, then maybe I'll cruise over...

Sounds like the Grinner Gathering.  lol
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Actually, this place would be perfect for a meet/greet/fish. Matt's girlfriend caught a soupie there last night and they were tailgate fishing out of the back of Matt's truck ;D

Don't bring too much attention to the spot.

No worries about too many people
Like Chip would say "We'll setup a buffet line. "
Probably bring more grinners in.

I don't think that's the kind of attention Chris is referring to.  Unfortunately, with all the GW's in the media lately (and bad press about some of the fishermen catching them in some cases) the wrong kind of attention can have some unwelcome consequences.  Chip and RayJay did a great job getting that shark back in the water quickly after a long tiring fight.
I think everyone on this board has a good understanding and respect for these animals that they treat them properly and do everything possible to ensure their safe return to the water.  The problem is with the goons that leave severed shark heads on the pier or rip them open with gafs and then toss them back in the water.  That's the crap that ends up on Youtube and gives us all a bad name.
I believe Chris even had a hard time deciding when and how to post the report on the ones he caught.
On the other hand, as nice as it is to let other fishermen in on a good spot, you still run the risk of the info getting out and you spot getting over fished.  Just ask Adam, he was nice enough to let a few guys in on his spot, now he has guys like me and Joe and Ron fishing there LOL  ;D

Chris

It's more bystanders and YouTube I'd be worried about. It's easy to narrow down and area by the looks of a beach, especially for wardens and people who grew up fishing socal. It doesn't make it any harder when a video is labeled exactly where and when. So when you have a bunch of guys together fishing for soups and sevens and they catch a white people will assume you're targeting them and wardens will take notice. Now if there is a warden nearby or in the video and says you did fine but the internet community blows up on the subject they have to launch an investigation and public statement, weather they find you or anyone else in the wrong it's a lot of undue stress and heartache and probably less fishing time for you or whoever is in question. Keep on fishing! Keep your groups small and don't raise a lot of noise with the locals and you'll be fine.

Totally agree with your points made.
I never say I'm fishing for sharks when someone asks. I am actually more interested in batrays and Leos, so I speak truthfully.

Sorry to sidetrack your post Chip.
