My buddy Ryan visited from FL this past weekend.  He was looking to add as many new species as possible, so we made the rounds to all the spots I've been fishing since I moved to SD.

*** Fri 10/20 ***

Shelter Island after dark, near high tide
- lots of mackerel using glow sticks as floats, filled the cooler
- nothing picked up our fresh mackerel chunks on the bottom
- Ryan caught a small scorpionfish by one of the pier pilings

*** Sat 10/21 ***

Torrey Pines incoming tide
- surf was really high
- sand crabs were easy to find
- no bites, surf beat us up pretty good

Del Mar lagoon before, during, and after high tide
- sand crabs caught us yellowfin croaker and sargo
- microfishing got us opaleye, spotted bass, rockpool blenny, and diamond turbot
- played tug of war with an octopus and lost... again

my new PR yfc

my new PR sargo

lifer #1 black surfperch

Carlsbad lagoon outgoing tide
- current was really ripping, made it hard to fish the rocks
- lots of opaleyes stealing bait
- saw big garibaldi slightly deeper
- Ryan caught a juvenile barred sand bass
- shallow area near bridge had tidepool fish

lifer #2 spotted kelpfish

Soup Kitchen tidepools
- caught opaleye and rockpool blenny before going to Tom and Steve's favorite place for beers and burgers

Soup Kitchen surf fishing incoming tide
- surf was still brutal, same as the morning
- put in a good several hours, but kelp and cross current were too much

*** Sun 10/22 ***

New Seaforth 1/2 day AM
- will do a separate report

Mission Bay
- surf was still bad, so we went to back of MB instead
- Mike joined us and started a fire
- a round ray for Ryan and a butterfly ray for Mike, nothing for me

Mike's butterfly ray

Will write up a boat report for our 1/2 day in a minute.
