I'm trying to keep the time of year for these events consistent.  With that, I also want to make sure the tides are in our favor, so after some research, it looks like November 18th will most likely be the day of the Gathering.  We have a good incoming tide until 9:30 pm which will give us many hours to fish in the dark also.  The location will probably be the same as it holds a long swath of beach that has sharky habitat, but I will scout the beaches as we get closer to the date.

That's only 3 weeks away kiddos!  I'll confirm the date this week so you guys can make plans.

As far as gear, I might have shirts made but sold through an online site in order to get things expedited, but no promises.  I will have hats however and still have a few GG shirts from last year also.

Remember that the winning shark doesn't get caught until a few minutes after midnight!  ;D ;D ;D

OK, the Grinner Gathering date is confirmed at November 18th, 2017.  It will be on the same beach as the last two as the Soup Kitchen has kicked out some great shark fishing this year especially and is generally less kelpy than the rest of the beaches.

Too bad the high is only 3.9'. SK is best during a significant high. It'll be cool seeing everyone though.

December is out for me.  Anything earlier is too early and the Saturday after Thanksgiving is a dropping tide.
It will be a fun one anyway and if fishable, I think will be a successful one!

I'm looking fwd to it. Like seeing the gear and rigs people use and the methods employed. It'd be a good time for someone who's audio/visual handy to do a video of the event.

I've got to check out rigs too. My gear has been beat up, and I'm going to make the switch to a conventional heaver for the surf. Flat out want more distance with bigger payloads and more cranking power ;D

Ok, I'm in for sure.  :) Dad is hopefully coming down with me.

What time is everyone showing up?
Is it worth getting there earlier in the day for other type of fishing?
Any good spots near by to buy/catch fresh bait?

Early arrival not an advantage. It is a surfing beach, not a fishing beach. Hour before sunset should be good. Time to set up, see the sunset. Parking is 10 minute walk, but drive up and drop of gear is possible with a second person to watch the gear. Lot is locked at dark.

When you say early arrival are you talking about at the beach or at the bar for some cold ones and a cheeseburger before the main event?

;D
