New Years day watching football and playing poker rang in 2015 with a 'Ho-Lee-Chit' type of hangover Friday.
I had totally forgot about plans to do a bonfire down at Mission Bay with the kids, and my phone was already buzzing at 7am.
One of my neighbors picked up a nice pile of wood from his work, and I needed to head over to load the suburban.

Kids had various activities going on throughout the day, but did manage to make it down by 4p. Me, my wife, and 6 kids in tow (WheresMyAdvil)
Started unloading the wood & chairs, of course getting the girls situated first, then sent the bigger boys off to bass fish as I rigged up the heavy rods.
They walked down the shore and were immediately greeted with good action. A lot of swings and miss, hoots and hollers, then finally my boy and his friend Cameron get a double.

Good start!

Few casts later and Alika is on again ...

This kept going for the next hour or so of light, though the boys were having too much fun to take pics.  >:(
I believe they landed 12 or so, along with a short Hali, and missed a few dozen more.

Alika's Halibut ...

Cameron went on a streak of landing Pigs ... !!

Finally night falls and the Mac gets hit. Good drag burn.
I give a pull to make sure it's set and hand the rod over to my 11 year old.
He's on for a good half hour battle. Turns out the hook slid down to the bottom part of the ray and nearly tail hooked it.
Not knowing what was up, what a battle! Tail hooked rays are a beast apparently.  ;D ;D
Get to shore for the pose... nice 50 lber or so ..

Re-bait and cast out. 15 minutes later the squid goes rippin ...
Grab the rod, give a tug, and hand over to one of Alika's fiends (Brian) to fight. He's never been on a fish that big so was grinning ear to ear.
Another 15 minutes and we have our second ray to shore. Clone of the last one.

Re-bait, cast out, and sit by the fire.
Took about an hour for the third and final hit of the night on squid. Set the hook and pass over to my son.
This one goes airborne, and rips side to side. Not much more of a battle after that as we get the head turned to shore.
Alika get his clone and the boys do the 3 way pose.

No other fish after that but the bonfire was good. We had a total full-pit-burner the whole night long. Best part was watching the kids try to do s'mores in the 1000 degree heat LOL ...
Here's a shot of Brian trying to lean in ...

All-in-all a good eff'in time. Had fun with the kids and glad everyone got some fish.

Tight lines everyone!
Thanks for reading!

Well Damn!  What a hell of a trip for you guys!

Yep... a "Ho-Lee-Chit" type of hangover is some of the worst, but stoked you powered through it.  I bet the kids are stoked you did also!   ;D
