Deactivated the last two centrifugal brakes on my Fathom 40. Straight 80lb 4 strand KastKing braid. Casts like a dream, no problems.

Can't wait to see the performance difference with 8 strand KastKing braid and a Hatteras cast ;D

Glad your back in your grove brother. I bomb it out there with my saltist

Chris

Hatteras is a good cast, it's what I use. Mainly because it's the only one that works on shallow beaches in knee deep water but I can really get some distance from a higher point, especially that lot.
Keep it tight

I'd love to see how you guys do it and what kind of distance increase you get ;D

The "Latimeria Cast" is by far the most professional and most kinetic cast.   ;D hahahaha

I haven't casted too many conventionals but between surf casting and a whole lot of fly fishing it's 65% back cast.. Gotta load your rod tip and never come forward before the line is strait out behind you.. The only difference between a fly and a 6oz piece of lead is you don't go back as fast..

Hatteras cast is a circular casting motion, not like a fly rod cast. It's a longer cast than an overhead cast, so the effect is to increase both the speed of the rod and the load. Do it right and there's nothing longer except a pendulum cast. Do it wrong and you can loose a rig, embarrass yourself or kill somebody. You can do it with your spinner and the casting cannon will definitely make it easier ;D

Ya I looked it up.. It looks like a cross between an "S" cast and a "shadow cast" on the backwards motion.. I haven't  heard of the others though..

Where have I heard that before...  Oh yeah... It was our resident super caster who cast almost hit me 200 yards down the beach when he was trying to cast it out into the ocean.   ;D :P ;D :P
He could cast a sinker, but god forbid there was a bait attached.  lol
