Regular Tuesday night thing. Couple guests this time. Tom's friends from Jersey, Eric and Suzanne. Nice folks.

Beers, tacos, some laughs, and we head out.

Got set up, tossed some baits, not much going on. Then I get a short hard run. Cruise over to the rod, nobody home. This would be my theme of the night.

Eric got a couple bite, but the hook didn't stick. Tom got one that did and missed a couple others. I took the prize in missed bites.

How ever, I also took the prize in connections, with a very small bat, a small bat, a little bit bigger bat, and a monster.

After missing several bites, some that looked pretty sharky, I got one to stick. Huge run. Hook up. And off to the races.

First run took me down half a spool. I knew it was going to be a long fight.

Gained some line, then, zip, zip, zip, lost it back down to half a spool.

Back and forth, gaining some, losing some, I finally get it into the waves. That was all it took to set off yet another run. Damn. I was tired.

Once again, I had to drag this thing to the shore. Finally got it to where Tom could grab the leader and hand line it for the grab. Then the leader pops and Tom runs out and grabs it before the waves can lift it off the ground and out to sea. Saved my fish and my rig. Good work.

Couple pics, and drag that thing back where it came from. Couple inches at a time.

Thankfully Tom said he was done, because I sure was.

Wingspan?

Steve's or the bat's?

They are about the same. The bat just needs to use both wings.

55.5" Decent fish.

You had the hot stick for sure!  That last bat beat my ass up and I was done for the night.  I can't imagine what it did to you.  LOL

I almost didn't want to jump in and grab him, but my DNA won't allow a beast to get away if I can help it.  8)
You can't catch them from your computer chair.
