I've had some good morning surf sessions in the past two weeks.

My first lure caught surf halibut two weeks ago.

Followed by a butterfly ray on the same lure.  Weird stuff happens the morning after a grunion run.

A baby bat on 6 lb line with a sandcrab last weekend while fishing with Binh.  He got a nice spotfin croaker.

Bycatch barred surfperch while trying for corbina.

Baby leo, same as above.  So freaking cute!

My PR corbina yesterday.  Saw lots of big ones cruising the flats.  Great sandcrab beds.

My PR corvina this morning.  First one from shore and first one from the surf.  Got 5 bites, 3 hookups, and landed 2.  I'm guessing they were all about this size.

Morning after grunion run bites rock.  :D

Never got a vina from the surf. Probably would really boost my chances if I tied on an LC once in awhile.

Well damn Ben!  I guess it's that time of year to switch up and fish for a little bit of everything!  Nice corvina in the surf!  I have yet to get a beach one, but then again I don't go light line fishing in the surf too much the past decade.

See my reply on Steve's post. Solid outings Ben. I'm a bit jealous.

It's amazing how many Corvina are in the surf these past few years. That's enough to get me out to try!
