She knew exactly what it was.

Who's Matt? That sent the text saying it was mutilated.

I had hands on with that shark after it was killed. It was finned, gut and put in a truck. DFW came by and had a conversation with the angler. The one who hooked it wasn't the one who gaffed or stabbed it.

There was no popping or busting, we waited in the parking lot until they got there.

I don't know who Matt is, but the screen shot was a forwarded to me.

I'm really not understanding some of this conversation though. So the DFW rolled up, knew it was a Great White, and let the fishermen roll out with it in their truck or did DFW take it and roll out in in their truck?  When you had hands on with it, did you let them know it was a Great White or did they know that after they got it over the rail? Was there any fines issued or did the DFW just take names and the story?

Just curious as catching and releasing GW's will always be a gray area as far as the law is concerned, but catching and killing one... well....
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

One of tooblopperfirma tackle's friends was saying he got word of the incident and raced over their from work. He stated he contacted the warden and held the pier people up. Wardens arrived and busted them thanks to him.

Ya that's Ed and not true. He did come down when he saw what was happening and thought it was someone else. Don't believe all the rumors and explanations floating around on IG stories.

Nothing is being ruined for anyone else and the wardens aren't out to get shark fishermen from the piers or shore.

Still wondering what happened to the shark, and if the angler was cited.

For example, in deer/elk cases, the animal may be donated to a food bank. An accidental illegal kill may or may not be cited, depending on circumstances and warden discretion.

Not interested in piling on anyone, just interested.

Chris, you seem to have the most credible information, can you help answer these questions?

Oside_kayak_guy  on instagram was one of the guys there and wrote a very detailed 5 page description of the entire event.

Its a good read and explains eveything you need to know.

Thanks Eric.

More or less what I thought might have happened. Sounds like the meat will go to waste. That's a shame. Remains to be seen what the consequences may be.
