Crushed L5... broken pieces too.  Going to see surgeon to discuss options. One option is to deal with the pain for 3 months in hopes the excess bone gets absorbed and "Self-Corrects", but that is only an option. Not sure what I'm going to do, but I might need to try my own "Personal" remedy and see if that helps. A daily dose of fishing for the next three weeks should help alleviate the pain or at least make me forget about it during that time. See, I should have been a doctor!

The doctor was funny, I kept asking him questions like "Can I do anymore damage to it say... if I wanted to go fishing like a few times a week?". "Now what exactly should I not be doing? Would going in a boat be a bad thing?" He told me "I'm not giving you a prescription slip to go fishing... you will have to do that at your own risk. Trout fishing may be fine, but I wouldn't go tuna fishing.". I told him "Great, why don't you put a bullet in me to just end it now then". His look was worth $1,000 bucks!

Oh well... time to start thinking of how I am going to tackle this.

Crap dude sorry to hear. Good friend just had spine surgery for something similar early in 2014 if you'd like referrals (if you choose to repair).

Lemme know!  :( :( :(

At least you know what the cause is. Good luck whatever course you take.

Just did some research.. looks to be a 100% chance of surgery.  Need to move on this quickly to be ready in time for the fishing season.

Fishing the other day just crushed me.

There are different ways of going about repairs on this. I'd discuss with more than one surgeon to be honest.  Research your options as some procedures are less invasive than others. There are chop shops .... and there are fine craftsmen.

Not really sure. I thought it was from moving my daughter back home a few months ago, but my Dr.s thought it was a more recent issue. In other words, i just woke up with it.
