Took a walk with my step-daughter the other day for some exercise and some bird watching and we came across an opening in the tree line to see a pair of Red Tailed hawks sitting on a dead tree:

Took a few pictures , then turned to discuss it with her and when I turned around they had vanished! I then saw movement through the trees and thought " OK they are coming back!" Got my camera ready to catch what I thought was one or more of them returning when to MY UTTER AMAZEMENT SAW THIS!!!!!!:

In shock I was backpedaling to keep it in frame in the narrow opening in the trees and shouting to my step-daughter " HOLY !#@$^!$^  IT"S A BALD EAGLE!!!!!!!!!" She was laughing her butt off and calling "bird nerd " in my wake! ;D ;D ;D
Wasn't until I calmed down and reviewed the images on my camera that it had a fresh kill of a common coot in it's talons!!!! BONUS!!!

(hope no ones sensibilities or delicate nature are offended by the eagle doing eagle stuff! :o)

Life and work issues being what they have been for the last year the birding and hiking I have been doing in place of time on the sand hopefully have now relaxed enough to allow me to add some fishing back in to my life again, and lord knows I need to knock the rust off to try and take the mud marlin crown back........
Thanks for looking and hoping to get some line wetting time in during this long weekend!
It's all Tom and Don's fault! They "hooked" me on mud marlins and sharks!

There's just something awe inspiring, amazing, and patriotic about seeing a bald eagle in the wild! Especially here in Ca!
I love the hawk picture, but that BE shot is incredible!!!

Hope to see some fish reports from you soon!

I love that bloody beak!  Great action shot Joe!!!
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Hey Joe,
Would you be ok with me saving that photo?  Only to use as a background on my PC.
Thanks!

Thanks all!
I have no problem with anyone saving the picture! I can also provide a full resolution
version as well to anyone that wants it!

That eagle pic is really nice. Not too often you see that around here let alone get a picture.
