Summer Rod Give-A-Way!

Thanks to JRodda for the fresh Daiwa rod donations, so we're having a Summertime Contest.  I'm going to keep rules simple.

Rules are simple.  Catch and post your catch on the Prehistoric Soul Forum!  (I'll probably extend it to Facebook or possibly Instagram, but at this point not 100% sure yet)

Take a fresh clean picture as the size may or may not matter since on the first day of fall, the top pictures will be put on a poll for your peers to vote on.  The top winner on the poles will receive a Daiwa Emblem EMP1102HFB 11' Conventional Rod

Shipping is NOT included, so if you win and need it to be shipped, we can figure out the options.

This Contest is primarily open to SoCal residents, but even "out of state" members are also eligible.  You will just need to consider the cost of shipping if applicable.

I'll fill in more details this week, but the contest starts today, and remember that the biggest fish might not be the winner.  It may be the most spectacular catch or possibly the best photo.  Everyone who is a member or contributor on the Prehistoric Soul Website (and possibly social media soon as I make a decision) will be eligible.  The only person that can't win this rod is me.  Hahahaha

Good luck everyone and lets see your catch!

I can't win the rod either if you have to catch a fish.

Please make sure that in the pursuit for a great photo that if you plan to release the fish you get it back in the water ASAP.

That's a given. The good thing is there are 3 adrenaline rushes in catching a surf shark. Getting bit, landing her, and the successful release.  I would hope no one would sacrifice that rush for a slightly better picture, but always a good reminder.

Not that I need any more rods, but bummer my pic of the legal WSB I got from the surf last weekend didn't turn out. I didn't check the pic before rushing to get her safely released.

Question- regarding recycled pics
So how are you going to prevent someone from submitting a photo from something caught at a previous time, before the contest? Shouldn't there be some kind of time stamp? I'm really not trying to add complications for you Tom, it's great that you take your time out to add fun things for everyone. Absolutely appreciate you.

I just don't trust any of my old fishing buddies. Never have, never will. They're all tackle whores and will stop at no lengths to acquire more gear they'll never use. ITS MINE!

I'm doing this as part of an honor system, just like the bat fight. I'm keeping this as a forum only since people would have to make an effort to write up a report rather than just slapping a picture on a FB or Instagram medium. Besides, the winner is not the biggest fish or best picture necessarily since there will be a poll at the end for everyone to vote for the winner.

I've toyed with ideas to have bigger competitions with bigger prizes, but the thought of trying to police it all was a bit overwhelming. I do have an idea I'll probably implement this fall, but in the meantime, it's all honor and pretty much just this forum community that is participating.
