As far as I know they hang out in the same areas as the 7s.
Why aren't any showing?

I was wondering too, I'm guessing they are more seasonal? Maybe when it's a bit warmer?

Lots of soupies in the kelp beds. My dive buddies see them on almost every dive trip when they're in the surf, especially LJ and NSD.

The water is so crazy warm right now, I'm hoping to see more exotic sharks caught this season.  This is looking like the year to do so.

I'm betting Coronado and silver strand might produce a hammerhead. they were caught in La jolla and point loma last year from yaks. time to paddle out some baits!

Maybe even a Tiger will find it's way up to you guys down south. That'd be more news worthy than a surf caught GWS in my opinion.

Doubt it. A good buddy of mine and I ( one with a lot of knowledge on the subject ) had a discussion about this and their migration patterns and the currents wouldn't really allow them to find their way up to SD. There are plenty of hammers, duskies, silkies and a few others that inhabit the waters within a 3 day boat ride that could and will make their way into SoCal waters, but tigers aren't one of the species I'd lay money on to be caught.

Broom tails and other grouper species might show up too.

There is a resident population of broomtail groupers off of PV and LJ. Seen lots of videos from some freedive buddies as recently as this year. Have also heard stories from guys who were actually there of tigers seen on kelp paddies during strong El Nino in the 80s. This is their upper most range though and it would take a lot of warm water and to stay warm for a long ass time to bring them up. I seriously doubt one will ever be caught from shore though.

Went looking for soupfin last night with Ray.  Conditions were perfect for two hours until the great grass giants rolled through.  No grinner bites at all.
