I'm sure most of you have read this, it's been floating around for several days.  Made me rethink my bucket list

https://ftw.usatoday.com/2022/11/in-san-diego-a-dead-great-white-shark-and-a-plea-to-anglers?fbclid=IwAR3AQryYkUL4S6YXI51VXAY3L17X4MXcu7AMKp25Se-e_0K-kP2dNNehS10

Part of me thinks this may the beginning of the end of paddled baits since they specifically mention the big gear, but hopefully it doesn't shut down shark fishing.  Oye ve.

The estimated 40% of SD white sharks swimming with gear in them is baffling. I would hope if you're gonna use 20/0 hooks you wouldn't lose the fish. We like whites to eat sea lions! Let's keep em around.

What I found curious was they said the hook was found near the shark. The hook also has no fishing line on it so probably wasn't involved in the sharks demise. Sounds like someone planted it there to make a point. Too bad they are implicating the shore fisherman...
Also the hook was huge!

Just my two cents worth...

After reading that again, I'm seeing a dart board being set up for new regs this upcoming year, but hopefully not.

Actually it does have a steel leader attached to it. Zoom in on the eye, and you can see it on the backside of the eye and you can see it and big swivel in the background behind the hook.

New regs are already in place.

The hook and leader was wrapped on a lobster trap line.
Keep it tight
