Went for another after work session today, 1700-1830. I was hitting incoming highs pretty hard in the late spring with success but got a little bored, so I wanna come back around and just see this beach for every part of the tide and observe the opportunities.

A good bit of kelp floating around but rarely a problem for me this day. Started with the white grub and got slammed in close. Came up quick and it was a really nice bean, hooked in the tail. Must have taken notes from a nearby thresher. Was close enough that I kept the rod tip high and thus his powerful tail out of the water so he couldn't run too much. If he shook off then whatever. But I got 'em in!

Right about 21". Would be my PB, but, more so than the potential incidental nature of the catch, I think the fight was unfair in my favor. Nice fish regardless.

Let him and the meat on his bones go, kept looking. Broke off the grub, presumably on some kelp. Line tightened and pop...always retie your knots before a session. How many times do I gotta learn that?

Switched to an LCFM for about 30 minutes. Got one perchy bite that didn't connect.

Started back up the beach toward the car throwing a c-rig pumpkinseed grub and got one hookup. Officially satisfied now that I got more than the asterisk fish on the board.

Headed home after soaking this one up. Saw one more bean, maybe the same one, in the skinny. I'm surprised, there's really no food on the hard pack right now for them.

Aiming for a Mosquito session on Saturday, we'll see.

Latimeria

This is how I look at it.   If you meant to snag it, it wouldn't count, but if you accidentally hooked it (especially in the fin which should rip out really easily) and landed it, I consider it a catch (Unless it was for an official record with rules).  Then again, I'm not the IGFA so however you want to count it, it is a really nice corbina!

Nice work boss as always!
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Most of the Sand crabs have gone away for the year, time to get The Mosquito wet ;D
