Thing is these 6 sinkers weigh 20 pounds!  Holy smokes that was a lot of lead.

I lost my 3# sinker the last time I was out deep dropping and needed to pour some deep drop sinkers.  I want to do some exploring with the electric reel before the season closes.  That and maybe try dropping a conventional reel if I could find the big blackgill.

In any case, the little mold is a 32 oz sinker...

The big one is a 6 pounder!

I swore my pot held 10 pounds, but it's only a 5# pot at best.  Took some time to pour and needed my torch to keep things warm.

They aren't pretty, but dont have to be.  I still need to clean them up, but that's a lot of sinker!

That's a lot of lead. How deep do you think you'll get to? I'm sure you can find some thornyheads, if you dare...

I was hitting 1200' with 4#, but we didn't do too much searching deep since we were targeting Swords.  I should be able to hit anything I want with the spot lock.

If I ever get an electric reel (I might end up servicing them eventually so I ought to get one to know them in and out) I wanna try some spots in 2,000-3,000' for what I assume would be thornyheads and ratfish.

The 6# and spotlock will easily hit 3000'.  My reel hold 1100 yards and I had 1100 yards on it, but had to cut some off to accommodate the sword leader and line.  I probably have 1000 yards for sure, so I won't be fishing 3000' I guess.

Where are you finding lead these days?

Tire shops used to be a good source, not so much anymore ::)

Old San Diego water pipes... Well, I only have about 75# left give or take 25 miscellaneous.  My lead resources have dried up recently.
