It's like Bounce Balling, only with nothing worthy on the end of the line.

Cold morning made me second guess if I should get out there.

I decided I really wanted to get a legal butt on the flasher.  I've tried well over a dozen times and only found one short halibut and a few handfuls of bass and other critters.

I get to the ramp and wow!  Not a sole in the parking lot!

As I headed out, I had to navigate around all of the Tumbleweed.  You always know when the wind is blowing down there.

Water was beautiful!  No wind and greasy calm!  I bounce balled for an hour for nothing, so I stopped to get something to lose the skunk.

Gulp curly tail grubs definitely were getting bit!  I was trying for some big triggers.

Problem was it all wasn't what I was looking for so I got back to bouncing the 2# lead ball.  I saw a lot of stuff on the side finder, but couldn't get anything to bite the little iron.

Now I was zig zagging in the areas I learned from the guru, Randy.  Still nothing.

I then was reeling up to check my bait for eel grass when I noticed a small halibut holding onto the squid strips in the hoochie.  It let go and swam down.  I caught bigger ones on the 3" swimmy in the bay... Ugh..

I finally call it quits and make a quick stop for one quick drop of the jig.   Exactly what I thought would happen.  Dropped back in and headed for the barn.

Definitely not the "funnest" way of fishing but one of my goals this year is to find the 40# butt.  My biggest is 35# with Steve, but I would love to break the big 40!

Thanks for reading!

You can't catch them from your computer chair.

I'm sure a 40# doormat will find you soon. At least that was a beautiful day and nice vivid rockfish.
