Went down for an afternoon session.  Within 10 minutes of my first cast and I get a good bite.  It didn't stick, so I left it out there.  Bit again but didn't get the hook.  No third bite so I reeled in and rebaited.

I just call Dave when I'm on this time and a bendo after the strike indicator initially drops!

It comes tight to the surface and it's a 3#ish model Lightning Trout!  My drag was pretty loose, but I had him... until I didn't.  He rolled and the hook just popped out.

I call Dave back that I blew it after casting a fresh crawler out.  About 10 minutes into that cast and I'm on again!  This time the strike indicator went straight out and popped off the line!  I was certain this was a catfish until I saw it was a BIG trout!  Normal color one started making runs back and forth and the back was big!

I get it about 2 net lengths from the end game and see a big 6# model rainbow!  I'm pumped!

Then he flops out of the water and my long noodle rod doesn't hold the line tight with the flop and he's gone... MFER!!!!!

The hook was sharp, but I cut it off and retied just because....

Next few hours and recasting every 20 minutes with fresh baits and trout goop gave me nothing.  Not even another bite.  I guess I was there at the right time when they were going through and started to take another lap in the puddle.

Oh well... I'm pretty disappointed especially since I couldn't lose one last year.  This year, the god "Even Steven" is coming back to collect on some of my trout luck last year.

I'll be back....
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Guess dry January is over. Trout report in saltwater forum is a sure sign. Cheers.

Dry January is effecting my brain... This alcohol free wine I had didn't cut it.

A bit heartbreaking there, at least you saw some action.

Wish I knew the one I actually enjoyed. I need more cigars so might have to swing by Total Wine and double check the NA wine section again. In the meantime enjoy your NA Guinness.

NA whiskey is insultingly bad though, worse than snake oil. Oak barrel water.
