Well, A coyote finally got in my yard and killed my 3 remaining chickens :o  Mongo kept them at bay for years and he must have been asleep inside by the fire cause Sunday afternoon the chickens were toast ! To his credit he did growl and bark from inside but it was too late. The coyote jumped the 6 foot fence and tried to come in from the top of the pen but couldn't get in so he dug under :( Oh well, they were getting old and I was buying chicken food and eggs ;D  ;D  Time to beef up the security and get a new flock of Hens :)

Here is the carnage, the bastard even took a dump inside to leave a mark  ::)

Mongo needs to quit sleeping on the job  ;D

Mongo has been going for the easier kills like lawn furniture pillows.  1/2 rations for Mongo until further notice.  lol

A real bummer about all the chickens.  I wish I liked eggs more or I would have restocked my flock after they all passed.

Dang! I get coyotes and bobcats quite often in my yard after my chickens. I have 1/2 galvanized wire all around my coop/run and a 2ft apron surrounding the coop. They gotta through rocks, the wire apron, then plastic landscape fabric to get to my girls. I have cameras on my coop and a pellet gun that shoots .22 sized pellets. I'm ready for them!!

Satisfying...they got a couple cats of ours a few years back. Being in suburbia I strongly considered bow hunting them in the streets at night...

Jeez I didn't realize this was a whole poultry owner forum! Koga you also tend to lay eggs don't you?

sasquatch

love my coyotes and my hawks and owls. Need more of them.. f@cking gophers, rabbits and ground squirrels are eating my plants, I got plants that would cover a mortgage payment.

Haha!! I live right across the street from 2 schools, an actual firearm is too loud and will draw the wrong attention to me.

Just invite Timmy down and the wrong attention will be directed at him.   ;D
