Got my hard notice yesterday for my last day at work.  I have a couple of months before I'm gone but they said to take the day off if I need it....  Might as well.

I was coming into the entrance when i noticed a Ranger trying to grab a Canadian Goose with a broken wing.  The long time zookeeper in me got a little cringy when slowly driving by, but he said he called someone else down to give him a hand.

I get to the gate and the lady was really distressed about the bird.  She said that was their expert bird catcher and that's all I needed to hear.  Help was going to be given whether they liked it or not.

I reversed 100 yards and pulled over between the bird and the Ranger truck.  I got out and grabbed my trout net just in case.  I walked right up to the bird though and got a hold of it.  Damn wing was snapped in half and really nasty.  We got her crated up really quickly and off they went to the rehabilitation center.  Maybe that would bring me some good luck for helping out.

Super hard rain all morning but definitely fishable.

First Lake I tried was the one I saw the huge Lightning trout in a few weeks ago.... Nada.

I saw with the rain that they opened up a part of the back road for traffic, so decided to hit my Alpha spot.  It wasn't long before I was on the board!

Then it was a slow but steady bite.  I ended up 3 for 5 before the sun came out and I called it quits.

Two were nice sized, but one was a RUNT!  Apparently put in as bass bait.  lol

That was it.  Came home for lunch and to get a few things done.... and possibly might come back down later since I need that damn 2025 Lightning Trout!  lol
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Good job stacking up a few more for the smoker.

Nice helping out with the goose!

Bummer about your Job, hope you have something lined up ;)

Smoked goose and trout sounds tasty ;D

Rained most of the day up here with some hail in the mix, Palomar will be full of snow I'm sure, just waiting for the clouds to clear for a good visual :)

You can take the zookeeper out of the zoo but you can't take the zookeeper out of the man
