Had a chance to stop and wet a line for a bit, and hopefully break in my new surf gear, a teramar/sedona combo with 10# mono, for lc's, small big hammer, etc...plus, with all these catches halibutJoe has bin making, it pumped me up for some flatfish...unfortunately, the wrong kind of flatty

It's amazing how those butterfly Ray actively pursue baits. I've caught quite a few on artificial lures and they all seemed to actively chase it down rather than the incidental snag of a bat ray.
Those teaser rigs are used big time on the east coast for weakies and schoolie strikers. Nice going Ray!

Lunch break sessions are some of my favorite times!
Love getting out of work for a bit, and anything I might catch is just a great bonus.
I love the Carlsbad area.  Next time I am down visiting my grandmother I'll have to bring my gear.

I have been fishing that lagoon for years and have yet to catch 1 of these.
