Hit the beach at 7:30.
Water looked great for fishing,no salad in sight.
We toss the first baits out and 20 mins later Jerry's rod starts bouncing. He sets the hook and he is on
But I will let him tell his story.
Minutes after he gets his on the beach and my rod starts pointing to the surf and I am on.
The prize. my first Leo. 53.5"

Unfortunately that was the end for me. Strip the gears on my real.
Off to the store tomorrow for a new 1.

Congrats on the healthy Leo!  I still love those things.  So what did Jerry catch?  Now I am anticipating a bigger model with no spots, but I will wait to see what he has to say when he chimes in!

Congrats again on the nice Leo!
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Thanks for the comments.
Anyone have a suggestion for a spinning reel that will fight these fish and won't leave a huge hole in my wallet?

We went to a new spot on a hunch and only caught 2 fish....mine was a toad 19" sandbass....                                                      the pics doesn't do it justice...had a head like a lion. Team Poorboy is down to one :(

The pic does not do it justice. It was the biggest sandie I have ever seen. It tried to eat that mack head.
Sorry I couldn't help you with the pics my friend, I had my hands full.

Beautiful Sandy boss!  You'll se a lot more big bass on the mack heads the more you are out there.  I got an 8+ pound calico in the surf on a mack head!
