Hey guy anybody gonna fishing Friday night near mission beach durning the grunion run? This is gonna be my first time any tips would be helpful  ;)

Not sure if they can be caught or not this time around, but if they can, pin one or two on and heave it out on the long rod and see if you can get a grinner.

Hopefully you can hook up with someone to get out.  I'm usually booked when the weekends roll around.

Are you long rod fishing for sharks, or plan on fishing smaller gear for the other surf critters?  If you have the long rod and big baits, I would wait until dark and fish "near" the jetty.  It's fairly shallow, but drops off and I've gotten BSB there before.  Look for filling holes along the beach and just south of Crystal pier are all spots there I would try.  Definitely use some meat if you are going for shark.   8)

I had all my gear stolen a few weeks ago I had one long rod I haven't been able to find a 12 footer yet but have  10 footer and a 8 the 10is a Penn spinning and I have a gold coast line level reel on the 8 would love to hook up with a shark or two leopard or otherwise mw and my dad go batray fishing all the time haven't been able to land a shark worth mentioning.figured id catch a few perch for fresh bait and go get Macs and squid frozen.im coming down from riverside county so ill be there around 7ish

Long rods help out tremendously to keep the surf and weeds off the line. It's definitely worth it and you can always upgrade when the time us right. :)
Definitely invest in surf sputnik sinkers. They are the most important gear for long rod sharking. I'll send you the link later but the Klammer sinkers on eBay can't be beat for performance and price.

Ok kool thanks for the help IV been lookin at some surf sinkers but tue only place kinda new me is bass pro and there not cheap there at all anybody know if squidco sells them there lead is super cheap
