Man, It was just like a summer day when Steve and i headed down to the beach after work for a shark session.  We killed about 3 hours of time before we finally got our lines in the water.

The salad was atrocious!  Every cast we caught giant kelp monsters and threw them in the hole to prevent another attack.
We did have some excitement though as the worlds drunkest dude ever was left behind by his super drunk friends.  Drunken dude was probably tweeking also as he was giving himself a seaweed and sand shower while barking like a dog.  Someone called the lifeguard who in turn called the cops.  It was quite the spectacle.

The weeds actually started letting up for a short time and I missed a bass bite here and there before getting this chubby.  ??? :)

Steve was just about checked out due to the weeds, but stayed for a little while longer to keep me company.

Well, he got the bite we were hoping for!  I should have had a bunch of great shots of the fight with the extreme bendo of the rod, but my slow poke camera was nowhere near fast enough.

Mission accomplished on a 72" Soupie!

Steve has had a few skunks in a row off the beach, but ended that streak with a beauty.  Yep, you could tell he was a happy guy!

We fished for another hour before the weeds rolled through again and we called it quits.  Not an epic evening, but a victory in any book especially since we have caught more Seven Gills than Soupfin over the years.

Good fishing with you and I'm glad you stayed a bit more.

Forget the smile, check out the googly eyes.

That was a declared last bait that got me the fish of the night. Almost a year since I got my last soupfin, hopefully only a week before my next one.

Almost forgot, as I was backing up to gain some line on the fish, I fell backwards into a giant two foot deep hole. I was glad I didn't lose that fish.

Leos and sevengill frequently break the surface. Haven't caught enough soupfin to say for sure, but I don't remember that this one did.

Most of my soupfin have, but it's been a year since my last one so hopefully I get to update my observations.   8)
