Really, a nice 3 day weekend and the NWS says high surf warnings up to 6 foot sets Saturday-Tuesday.

Looks like a bay session.

Going to try and make bait again tomorrow night at SI then hit the bay.

Yeah, it also might weed up the beaches after this swell moves through.  Hopefully not too bad.

The bay is firing, so that's not a bad option.

Trusting that is was supposed to subside so the truck is loaded. I'd defer to you guys as to what beach may have more minimal surf.

Where would you go today?

Should I punt and hit the bay?

...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK...

.TODAY...
SURF HEIGHT.............3 TO 5 FEET BECOMING 2 TO 4 FEET.
RIP CURRENT RISK........HIGH. VERY STRONG CURRENTS AND DANGEROUS
                        SWIMMING CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED.
WATER TEMPERATURE.......72 TO 74 DEGREES.

REMARKS...HIGHEST SURF NORTH OF CARLSBAD.

OUTLOOK FOR WEDNESDAY...2 TO 4 FEET.

Well, I would stay south of Carlsbad for sure.  Cardiff might be good with those tides, but it's usually a bad area for kelp after a big swell.

I would drive by the beach for a quick look at conditions or at minimum, check out the surf cams.  They could give you an idea, but I would probably hit the bay just knowing it is 100% fishable and to give the surf a day or two to settle down.  The high evening tides are perfect for bringing sharks into the beach though....  Man, tough call.

The front of the bay has been kind to me as of late.

Silly me but where is the front of the bay Mike? By the 5 or by the inlet?

Big

PITA is getting a parking lot that is open past 10pm.

I call the back of the bay the eastern portion. Front to me would be closer to the inlet. Never done much bat fishing in the front.
